The Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday issued a bench warrant for the arrest of five suspects linked to terrorist leader, Bello Turji. The judge, Emeka Nwite, issued the arrest order after David Kaswe, lawyer for the federal government, moved an oral application in that regard. The factional National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, has rejected the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to recognise the Nenadi Usman-led caretaker committee aligned with Abia State Governor, Alex Otti. A 30-year-old man identified as Kazeem Solola has being sentenced to three years imprisonment for assault and pouring hot palm oil on his wife. Solola was said to have engaged in an argument with his wife, Mutiat Solola, who was cooking and in the process, angrily poured hot oil on her neck, body and also stabbed her. No fewer than two persons have been confirmed dead, while six others sustained serious injuries following a fatal road traffic incident involving a heavy-duty truck along the Gombe–Yola Road in Gombe State. The incident occurred at about 10:20 pm on Tuesday, at New Mile 3, near the entrance to the main dual carriageway along the Gombe axis.
