The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has said lawmakers deliberately removed the requirement for mandatory “real-time” electronic transmission of election results during the clause-by-clause consideration of the Electoral Act amendment bill. Lagos State emergency authorities averted a potentially catastrophic fire in the early hours of Sunday following the overturn of a fully loaded Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) tanker along the inward-bound lane of the Lekki–Epe Expressway at Awoyaya. The tanker, reportedly carrying tens of thousands of litres of PMS, lost control at approximately 2:00 a.m., causing it to overturn in a high-traffic area. The death of the Nigerian non-league footballer, Saburi Olayinka Adeniji has left the football community in deep mourning, with the tragedy compounded by the fact that he passed away just hours before his wife and young daughter could reach him in hospital.
