In Nigeria, the word ‘malaria’ is almost a reflex. Feel hot? Malaria. Can’t sleep? Malaria. Sudden sweating? Definitely malaria. But what happens when it isn’t? There is a growing, often overlooked confusion between malaria symptoms and hot flashes experienced during menopause. The overlap can be subtle, the consequences serious—and, in some cases, life-altering. Malaria typically presents with fever, chills, sweating, body aches, and fatigue. On the other hand, menopause—especially the perimenopausal phase—can bring intense hot flashes, night sweats, palpitations, anxiety, and sleep disturbances. Now imagine this: a woman in her late 30s or 40s suddenly feels waves of heat rushing…

The Nigerian forward, who is on loan from Bayer Leverkusen until the end of the season, has endured a disrupted campaign due to injury, including a knee problem that kept him out for an extended period. Although he recently returned to the matchday squad, he remained an unused substitute in Bremen’s 1-1 draw with VfB Stuttgart. Thioune indicated that Boniface’s physical condition remains a key concern, with…

The look also seemingly paid homage to Audrey Hepburn’s 1954 film Sabrina, which is further showcased by the full body wrap of rhinestone film strips. This marks Carpenter’s fourth time attending the…
Amid continued bloodbaths from insurgency across the country, the federal government announced its plan to reintegrate some “repentant” Boko Haram members into society in April. This undoubtedly came as a rude shock to many. The initiative, anchored by the Operation Safe Corridor, is one of the non-kinetic strategies of Nigeria’s counterinsurgency campaign. There are 774 people involved, who have undergone deradicalisation processes and religious reorientation. They received training in vocational skills such as tailoring, shoe-making and farming for self-employment purposes. There are two major perspectives on this approach. On one hand, the rehabilitative approach appears to be rooted in a…
