Telecommunications  services in parts of Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, were disrupted last week after a diesel supply shortage cut power to several mobile base stations, the country’s telecoms regulator said in an email. The Nigerian Communications Commission stated the disruption stemmed from difficulties in delivering diesel to critical telecom infrastructure, degrading service quality for mobile subscribers in the affected areas. Cipher Mining has acquired a 200-megawatt power site in Ohio called “Ulysses,” marking its first expansion outside of Texas and entry into the PJM wholesale electricity market, the largest power market in the United States.According to Tuesday’s announcement, the 195-acre site has secured power capacity from AEP Ohio, with all required utility agreements in place, and is expected to be energized in the fourth quarter of 2027. Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has officially launched the Neighbourhood Watch Corps (NWC), a state-controlled security outfit designed to tackle the escalating surge in banditry and gang-related violence. At least 10 persons have been confirmed dead following a fatal road crash along the Jos–Bauchi Road in Plateau State.The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, December 23, at about 12:12 a.m., and involved four vehicles, two trailers and two Ford Galaxy minibuses.
