The Niger State Police Command has arrested four suspected fraudsters linked to a vehicle scam syndicate and recovered 67 rustled cattle after a gun duel with bandits in the state. Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement, saying operatives attached to Maje Division, Suleja, arrested four suspects along Kaduna Road on May 12 while allegedly attempting to move a suspected stolen Volkswagen Golf vehicle to meet a buyer. A new pre-election survey in Kwara State has found that voters are overwhelmingly focused on security, electricity and employment ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with party affiliation, religion and ethnicity ranking far behind as deciding factors. The poll, conducted by the Africa Polling Institute across all 16 local government areas between May 4 and 11, 2026, shows that 66 per cent of respondents identified insecurity as the most urgent issue in the state, followed by electricity at 55 per cent and jobs/unemployment at 48 per cent. A 66-year-old lawyer, Tunde Awogbade, and one other, Obayomi Olaleye, were arraigned by the police on Friday before an Igbosere Magistrate Court sitting at the Tinubu Magistrate Court, Lagos, for allegedly forging official stamps of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, among other offences. The defendants were docked before Magistrate Olatunde Adefope on six-count charges bordering on conspiracy, perjury, forgery, breaking and entry, assault occasioning harm, malicious damage, and perversion of justice.
