Nigeria’s gross external reserve drops slightly to .49 billion – CBN

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said Nigeria’s gross external reserves stood at $49.49 billion as of 15 May, providing an import cover of 9.04 months for goods and services. CBN governor Olayemi Cardoso revealed the figure at the press briefing held after the 305th Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting on Wednesday in Abuja. Court sets new date for NBF president’s arraignment on fraud charges

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday fixed 15 July for the arraignment of Azania Omo-Agege, the interim president of the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF), over alleged fraud involving N40 million. Judge Mohammed Umar fixed the date after the prosecution lawyer, Maryam Kalejaiye, sought an adjournment to allow the police investigating team to produce the defendants in court. FG begins payment of withheld allowances to Nigerian students abroad

The Federal Government has begiun the disbursement of delayed 2025 allowances for diaspora Nigerian students under the Bilateral Education Agreement BEA, programme. The update was contained in a statement released by the Federal Ministry of Education on May 19, 2026. The ministry anniunced that the Central Bank of Nigeria, has transferred approved funds to Nigerian embassies and foreign missions for onward payment to beneficiaries across partner countries.
