The Federal Government has begun the disbursement of outstanding 2025 allowances to beneficiaries of the Bilateral Education Agreement Scholarship Programme studying in partner countries abroad. This was announced in a statement by the Federal Ministry of Education on Wednesday and signed by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade. No fewer than two siblings lost their lives in a fatal road accident which occurred at the Ijapo area of Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Wednesday. The accident involved a Nissan car with registration number Ondo WWW 322 TA, a truck which had no registration number, and a motorcycle. Two other victims of the accident sustained injuries. The fatal incident occurred in front of the headquarters of the Vehicle Inspection Office, where officials were reportedly conducting routine vehicle inspections and licence checks at the time of the accident. The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria on Wednesday retained the benchmark interest rate at 26.5 per cent, citing rising external risks, renewed inflationary pressure, and the need to sustain exchange rate stability.
