England legend Gary Lineker has said that Arsenal can win the UEFA Champions League this season.
Lineker also thinks Mikel Arteta’s team are the clear favorites in the Premier League.
On the Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker mentioned that Arsenal are better than any other team in Europe at scoring from set pieces and also at defending.
He said that Arsenal are also very organized in their defense, which makes it hard for other teams to score goals, adding that they are likely to win the competition.
“Yes, I would. For a reason, they’re really hard to score against. They are very organized and will hurt you through a set play. Right now, I don’t think many European teams can handle their set pieces very well. I think, like, people say it’s not great to watch, but mostly because the teams play low against them,” he said when asked about the chances of Arsenal winning the titles.
“They might look nicer sometimes, but good grief, look at where they are now. They’re clear in both competitions.”
Their performance in the UEFA Champions League is really good. Arsenal have only let in four goals in their eight matches this season, and half of those goals happened in their last game against FC Kairat.
Arsenal were the only team that finished the league stage with eight victories in all their matches.
