Chelsea are yet to convince themselves what they want to be or achieve this season.
Following a summer where Enzo Maresca won the Europa Conference League and the Club World Cup, the expectations were high for this season.
The Blues were expected to challenge for the Premier League alongside Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.
But they go into this weekend’s fixture at Newcastle sitting in fourth place, only two points above Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Liverpool and Sunderland.
So, if results go against them, Chelsea could drop to ninth.
On the other hand, Newcastle were outmuscled in the Tyne-Wear Derby last weekend and it must have especially hurt.
The game against Chelsea will give them an immediate chance to redeem themselves in front of their supporters.
So we have the right recipe for a cracker.
The team that can take all three points, while going into the Yuletide with better momentum ahead of the New Year.
