Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has emerged as a transfer target for fellow English Premier League side Everton, who are looking to address their right-back issues this winter, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
According to SportsBoom, Everton manager David Moyes is keen to strengthen the position during the January transfer window, with first-choice right-back Seamus Coleman having struggled with injuries this season. The 37-year-old has been limited to just one Premier League start.
Nathan Patterson, who has been earmarked as Coleman’s long-term replacement, has also endured fitness problems and has likewise made only a solitary league start, forcing Moyes to rely on makeshift options.
As a result, Everton officials have drawn up an extensive shortlist of options for Moyes ahead of a potential January swoop, with Aina among the names under consideration.
However, the report added that Moyes is unconvinced about signing Aina, who is only just returning from a lengthy lay-off.
Before making his return against Aston Villa on Saturday, January 3, the 29-year-old had been sidelined since September 2025 after sustaining a hamstring injury while on international duty with Nigeria.
Aina joined Forest from Torino in 2023 and is under contract at the City Ground until the summer of 2028, having extended his deal last year.
He currently plays under former Everton boss Sean Dyche, who replaced Ange Postecoglou in October 2025.
Aina missed the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations due to his three-month injury lay-off but has since played two matches following his return to first-team action. He has now featured in five Premier League matches this season.
