Bayern Munich have added Atalanta defender Honest Ahanor to their transfer wishlist as they look to strengthen their defence, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The 17-year-old defender has impressed since joining the Italian club from Genoa last summer, with his composure and ability to play as a left-footed centre-back catching the eye of several top European clubs.
Sky Sport Deutschland, via Tutto Atalanta, reports that Bayern are closely monitoring Ahanor ahead of a potential move as they assess options to bolster their backline.
However, Atalanta are unwilling to sell during the winter transfer window and view the defender as a key part of their project. The Italian club would only consider a January transfer if Bayern submit a sizable offer.
Born in Italy, Ahanor is eligible to represent Nigeria through his parents. He is not the only defender on Bayern’s radar, with the German champions also tracking Rennes centre-back Jérémy Jacquet, who is believed to be higher on their list.
Bayern are exploring options to replace South Korean defender Kim Min-jae should he decide to leave in the summer.
Ahanor remains under contract with Atalanta until 2028, making any potential transfer a difficult proposition.
