Mozambique captain Elias Domingues Pelembe says the team is not intimidated by Nigeria’s pedigree, DAILY POST reports.
The Mambas head into Monday’s Round of 16 encounter against the Super Eagles as underdogs.
The Southern Africans also have a poor record against the Super Eagles.
Chiquinho Conde’s side have drawn one and lost four of their five previous meetings with Nigeria.
Mozambique recorded their first-ever AFCON win against the Panthers of Gabon in the group stage.
Domingues reckoned that the Super Eagles are superior to the Mambas, but he believes they can shock their illustrious opponents.
“The Nigerian team is very powerful, but we will not be intimidated by that. We want to go there and compete because football is 90 minutes, anything can happen.”
