The ruling party in Abia State, the Labour Party, LP has gained more control of the Abia State House of Assembly, following the defection of Godwin Adiele, the member representing Ukwa West constituency.
Adiele, a strong Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, member from Ukwa West LGA, announced his resignation from the PDP on Wednesday, citing the good performance of Governor Alex Otti in the State.
His resignation was announced on the floor of the Abia State House of Assembly.
According to the former staunch PDP member, there was an urgent need for him to join Governor Otti in his crusade for good governance in the State.
With the development, LP now has 19 members out of the 24-man House.
The PDP, which had the majority in membership at the inception of the current legislative dispensation, now has only 4 members, while the All Progressive Congress, APC,
