A Special Adviser to Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, Sunusi Kwankwaso, has resigned his position following the resignation of the governor from the New Nigeria People’s Party.
The development was disclosed in a video released on Friday by Kwankwaso’s media aide, Saifullahi Alhassan, on his Facebook page.
In the video, Sunusi said his decision followed reports that the governor had exited the NNPP and was expected to join the All Progressives Congress.
Kwankwaso explained that he had earlier submitted a resignation letter but was unable to have it officially received.
He added that the video was necessary to formally announce his resignation as a political adviser.
“After we got information that the governor has left the NNPP and there are expectations that he will join the APC, I submitted my resignation letter, but it was not accepted.
“I am making this video to publicly inform everyone that I have resigned my position as a political adviser. I appreciate the opportunity to serve and the work we did together over the past two years,” he stated.
He ruled out joining the APC, stressing his loyalty to the national leader of the NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
“I will not betray Kwankwaso or the Kwankwasiyya movement. I remain with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and I will not join the APC,” he said.
