Abdul’aziz, the son of former Kano State governor and APC national leader Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has paid a visit to Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso at his residence.
The visit was confirmed by Saifullahi Hassan, a media aide to Senator Kwankwaso, in a Facebook post shared on Thursday.
The visit comes amid growing political tension in Kano, following the defection of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party in which Ganduje is a leading figure at the national level.
According to Hassan, Abdul’aziz Ganduje visited Kwankwaso as a mark of respect and to reaffirm his loyalty to the former Kano governor and NNPP leader.
Although details of the meeting were not made public, it has generated considerable interest in the Kano political space.
In recent days, Kano politics has become increasingly heated, with Senator Kwankwaso openly expressing disappointment over Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s decision to leave the party that brought him to power.
Kwankwaso has questioned why Abba Kabir Yusuf would abandon the platform that gave him the governorship ticket, especially after what he described as a hard-fought struggle to reclaim power from the Ganduje political camp in the last election.
He has also spoken emotionally about how that victory was later overturned, saying the governorship was returned to Ganduje’s camp despite all the sacrifices made.
