The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State says it is positioning itself to secure no fewer than one million additional votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The Benue APC said it is banking on the political machinery of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume-led bloc during the party’s ongoing electronic registration and revalidation drive.
The plan was disclosed in Makurdi by Philip Agbese, who represents Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and also serves as spokesperson of the Benue APC caucus in the National Assembly.
Agbese spoke while examining registration materials, stressing that the participation of the SGF-aligned faction would significantly boost the party’s numerical strength in the state.
“We are coming with serious business,” Agbese declared. “The Akume group alone has over half a million verified members ready to be captured in this exercise.
Within the next seven days, we will upload every one of them. That single move will increase APC membership in Benue by at least 500,000.
And mark my words we are targeting an extra 1 million votes for President Tinubu in the next election cycle.”
He compared the pace of APC’s mobilisation with that of opposition parties, arguing that their efforts pale in comparison.
According to him, “after one solid month, the other side has only managed about 30,000 registrations. Our people are on the ground, they understand the stakes, and they are responding in large numbers. This e-registration is our chance to reclaim and strengthen the party from the roots.”
Agbese also called on party members across the 23 local government areas of Benue to fully support the exercise, insisting that unity and commitment were critical at this stage.
“This is not the time for division or lukewarm attitude. With the structure Senator Akume has built and the commitment we are seeing, APC in Benue is set to become unstoppable again. Let’s make this exercise a huge success together.”
When asked to assess the performance of Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the lawmaker declined to give a definitive view for now, saying with a smile: “I don’t want to jump the gun and say something today only for my ogas at the top to come out tomorrow with a different view. I’ll consult with Bayo Onanuga and others in Abuja before commenting.”
He further lauded President Tinubu, describing him as “a towering giant in African leadership whose experience and vision are transforming Nigeria and inspiring the continent.”
Reaffirming the party’s ambition ahead of 2027, Agbese added, “We are serious about shooting Tinubu’s votes up by another 1 million from Benue State alone.
The people trust his leadership, and we will ensure their support translates into massive numbers in 2027 and beyond.”
