Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has said the All Progressives Congress, APC, could register more than two million members in the state following the launch of the party’s digital membership registration exercise.
Zulum made the projection on Sunday after receiving his APC membership card during the flag-off of the exercise at the party’s state secretariat in Maiduguri.
The governor was registered by an agent from his ward, Aiari Unit 003, and presented with his membership card by the Borno State APC Chairman, Bello Ayuba.
Also registered during the exercise were the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Kadafur, and the APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Dalori.
Speaking after the registration, Zulum said the digital platform was aimed at strengthening internal party processes and urged members across the state to participate in the exercise.
He said the party could exceed two million registered members in the state with the support of stakeholders.
The digital registration exercise is designed to create a centralised database of party members.
The event was attended by the Chief Whip of the Senate, Tahir Monguno; Senators Mohammed Ali Ndume and Kaka Lawan (SAN); the member representing Marte, Monguno and Nganzai Federal Constituency, Bukar Talba; Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan, Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani, acting Chief of Staff, Babagana Mallumbe, and other party officials.
