The Taraba state chapter of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, weekend recorded a major boost in its membership following the defection of a large group of women from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Dangon Community, Dinding Ward of Zing local government council into its fold.
The women were formally received at the ADC State Secretariat in Jalingo by the State Chairman, Hassan Muhammed Adamu Matawallen Iware, alongside the party’s Youth Leader, Abubakar Audu, and other top party officials.
Addressing the new members, the chairman described their decision to join the ADC as timely and encouraging, noting that it reflects growing public confidence in the party’s leadership and ideology.
He reaffirmed the ADC’s commitment to inclusive politics, women empowerment, and the promotion of good governance, social justice, and sustainable development across Taraba State.
In his remarks, the youth leader commended the women for what he described as their courage and political foresight. He assured them of equal opportunities within the party and urged them to take active roles in party activities at all levels.
Speaking on behalf of the new members, representatives of the women expressed confidence in the ADC’s vision and leadership.
They said their decision to leave the PDP was informed by the ADC’s progressive agenda and its focus on improving the welfare of citizens.
