On Sunday, October 1, 2023, Facebook reminded me of a message I posted on October 1, 2010. That day in history, I observed the ecstasy in which many Nigerians trooped to the streets in national colours to celebrate the nation’s 50th Independence Anniversary despite the various challenges bedevilling the country at the time, including insecurity.
