Recently, a Nigerian-born chemist, Dr Yakubu Alli, secured a joint research grant with the University of Cambridge to develop new technology for converting carbon dioxide into clean fuel is more than good news. It is a reminder of a truth we continue to ignore: Nigeria has the talent to contribute to world-changing innovation but lacks the systems to nurture and support it.
