Dear Mama,
Thank you very much for your articles on sexual purity. I have been following you since 2020. In 2021, I took that bold step not to do anything with any man who is not my husband.
God showed up with my dream man. I just got married traditionally on Saturday. My husband has never done anything with me, not even a kiss. We made a covenant to wait until after our white wedding, which is December 6th. Thank you, thank you, thank you. God bless you richly, Ma.
Dear Ma,
I’d like to share my thoughts on virginity as follows:
Enemies of virginity
Every woman wants to keep her virginity until her wedding night. However, certain circumstances truncate that dream.
- The premature death of a breadwinner leaves the surviving adults with more dependants than they bargained for (and can cope with). This leads to street hawking, dropping out of school, etc., and makes the girls more vulnerable to sexual abuse.
- Even when girls do not drop out of school, insecurity makes them vulnerable to kidnapping. Don’t ask what happened to all those kidnapped girls in the North during their captivity. We should only be grateful for their safe return.
- Fibroids target most mature, childless women (including mature spinsters waiting for Mr Right) and drag them to the surgical theatre. Many of them have multiple surgeries due to regrowth, while their luckier peers openly testify in church about having all their children vaginally (within or outside wedlock). Please pray for our doctors to discover non-surgical solutions to fibroids. If you know any herbs that can cure it, please let us know.
Keep your virginity status hidden
It is good to remain a virgin till marriage, but you should not broadcast the fact for your own safety. Like the Chibok girls, many other women also wanted to keep their virginity till marriage, but fell victim to circumstances beyond their control. Some ritualists and rapists believe sex with a virgin will cure them of HIV or make them rich. God has a reason for keeping the hymen in such a secret place. Even people who secretly watch you bathe cannot see it.
A wise virgin keeps her status hidden, remains humble and polite, and learns the skills needed for survival in the world out there. Learn to cook, make an honest living, guard your health, etc. Five foolish virgins were rejected in Jesus’ parable in Matthew 25.
Please, Ma, make this column more interesting by discussing the homemaking skills, relationship tips, social skills, etc., that spinsters need for a better future. PUNCH currently has no agony aunt column.
Also, tell our governments to prioritise the construction of good roads so that more breadwinners will live long enough to rear their children into adulthood. This will reduce the rate of street trading and the number of out-of-school children, which makes girls more vulnerable to sexual abuse.
Good roads benefit everybody, unlike cash transfers. Most of our federal highways are in a deplorable state.
Boys also need to be mentored by responsible older men. May God enable PUNCH Newspaper to provide such a column soon. A marriage with a bad leader cannot work.

My darling, precious, glorious, dignified, world-famous and heavenly celebrated Nigerian sisters,
Secondary virginity is the term for a person who, after having engaged in sexual intercourse, decides to recommit to sexual abstinence. It is often a personal and religious commitment to abstain from sex until marriage again, and may be framed as reclaiming a form of virginity.
I have written on this topic years ago, and you can Google-search and read it; it will transform your life if you’ve been sexually active!
If I told you what secondary virginity could avail even the divorced/single mother, you would be perplexed, how much more a young lady who wants to start life all over again and have her story beautifully re-written!
There’s more to come on this, as I pray you’re not planning to give your virginity to someone flying into the country for Christmas! Let me remind you that Mary, who birthed Jesus, the reason for the Christmas season, effortlessly remains the most celebrated female on earth till eternity! There’s nothing sexual purity cannot get you! May God visit you in an unforgettable way this season!!!
