Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has said that his administration ended 2025 on a sad note following the demise of his deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
DAILY POST recalls that the deputy governor slumped on December 12 while he was working in his office, and was immediately rushed to a hospital in Yenagoa, but he was later pronounced dead.
Speaking on Saturday when he graced the Lord’s Chosen Church Convention in Imgbidi, Governor Diri said the incident shattered his programs.
He said, “From when I assumed office as governor of Bayelsa State, I have never missed the convention. But 2025 became a different year.
“I lost my second in command, the deputy governor of my state and so we ended the year on a very sad note. I am happy again to be here with you.
“I call on politicians, it is not by our powers, it is not by our might, you are elected to serve the people, if you serve the people well, they will stand by you”.
