Yobe State Police Command said it has arrested a total number of 428 suspects for various capital offences, including kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, culpable homicide, and other related crimes from January to December, 2025.
SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Command’s Public Relations revealed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.
According to the statement within the year under review, 298 other suspects were also arrested for minor offences such as theft, burglary, cheating, breach of public peace, and other social vices.
“Most of the suspects have been arraigned before courts of competent jurisdiction, while a few cases remain under investigation and will be charged accordingly”, the PPRO said.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado has commended officers and men of the Command for their resilience and dedication in safeguarding lives and property despite prevailing security challenges.
He gave the commendation during a strategic security meeting he convened with Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Departments and Tactical Commanders across the state at the Police State Headquarters, Damaturu urging them to sustain the momentum and reaffirmed the Command’s renewed commitment to the fight against crime and criminality.
The CP announced the suspension of all leaves for officers and men of the Command until further notice, directing them to remain vigilant in protecting police facilities, arms, and surrounding communities from criminal attacks before, during and after Christmas and New year festivities.
