US adds beer, can imports to 25% aluminum tariffs

The administration of US President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced that it was imposing a 25 per cent tariff on all beer imports.

The administration added the beverage and empty aluminium cans to a list of derivative products subject to its tariffs on aluminium.

In a Federal Register notice, the Commerce Department stated that duties on beer and empty aluminium cans would be collected starting at 12:01 a.m. EDT on Friday, 4 April.
