President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renaming of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, as Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi University, in honour of the late Islamic scholar.
The President revealed the development on Saturday during a condolence visit to the family of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi at his mosque in Bauchi State. During the visit, Tinubu praised the cleric for his lifelong dedication to Islamic learning, moral teaching and service to the community.
He explained that the decision to rename the university was to preserve the memory and contributions of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, whose influence in religious education and spiritual guidance touched many lives across the country.
Tinubu described the late scholar as a humble and disciplined man who preached peace and unity. He noted that his teachings helped shape generations and encouraged peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
According to the President, the renaming shows the Federal Government’s appreciation of people who made meaningful contributions to society and is meant to inspire young people to value knowledge, service and integrity.
