The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has visited the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, at his palace in Sokoto State on Friday.
This was confirmed by the Nigerian Army via their verified X profile on Saturday.
It explained that the visit is aimed at “strengthening civil–military relations and fostering collaboration with traditional institutions.”
Shaibu, during the visit, promised that the Nigerian Army will work closely with community leaders to promote stability and coexistence across the country.
The Sultan of Sokoto, while responding to the Army chief, praised the officers for their sacrifices and efforts in protecting citizens and property.
This visit to the Sultan comes less than two days after the US launched airstrikes against ISIS targets in Sokoto state.
