The Chinese foreign ministry said on Monday that China has sanctioned some US congress members, government officials and heads of non-governmental organisations for “egregious behaviour on Hong Kong-related issues.”
According to the ministry’s spokesperson, Guo Jiakun, the sanctions come in response to the US sanctioning six Chinese and Hong Kong officials last month, which China “strongly condemns”.
