The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed a deadly armed robbery attack along the Doma–Yelwa road, which left two people dead.
The incident was disclosed in a post shared on X on Saturday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to the post, the attack occurred on Wednesday night at Gadar Bala, along the Doma–Yelwa route.
“A truck carrying goods and passengers from Rukubi town was reportedly ambushed by unknown gunmen at about 11:30 p.m.
“The attackers were said to have opened fire on the vehicle, killing the driver, Yusuf Dogara, a resident of Madawaki Ward in Doma, and a female passenger, Nano Gideon, from Akaba Agyaragu town in Obi Local Government Area,” Makama wrote.
Following the attack, police patrol teams, with support from local vigilantes and hunters, were immediately deployed to the scene.
The victims were rushed to the General Hospital in Doma, but were pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel. Their bodies were later deposited at the hospital mortuary.
Other passengers who sustained injuries during the attack are currently receiving treatment and are said to be responding to care.
The police said investigations have begun to track down the perpetrators, who fled the scene after the attack.
