Tragedy struck on Friday morning after a metro train reportedly hit and killed a woman identified as Salamatu Ahmad at the Bukuru Terminal Station in Plateau State.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased was hit while attempting to board the moving train at the busy Bukuru terminal and died on the spot.
One Nasiru Alhaji Baba Tsoro, who witnessed the tragic scene, told reporters that the incident happened while the train was already in motion.
He said the deceased had attempted to jump inside the moving train but missed her steps and was hit by the train, which killed her on the spot.
“The incident happened while the train was already in motion as the deceased attempted to enter it. She was hit by the train and died on the spot,” Tsoro said.
Security personnel and emergency responders arrived shortly after the incident, while authorities have secured the area and commenced investigations to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
