The Kano State Police Command has arrested three people and recovered weapons following a clash between rival gangs in Kabara and Magashi Quarters, Kano, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at about 10:53 pm.
The fight, reportedly led by Usaini Noni of Kabara Quarters and Umar Tautau of Magashi Quarters, caused panic among residents and left one person dead.
The deceased was identified as Adam Badamasi, also known as “Choli”, while two others, Ahmed Basiru and Akilu Usman, sustained injuries.
A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said: “Upon receipt of the report, combined teams of police officers swiftly responded to the incident, and met a rowdy scene with members of various vigilante groups.”
The area was cordoned off, and the arrested suspects were identified as Bazallahi Umar, 20, Abdullahi Umar, 20, and Abubakar Sani, 23.
The injured persons were taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where one of them was confirmed dead. Police maintained operations in the area until order was restored.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has ordered a discreet investigation to ensure that the culprits are brought to justice.
The police also urged residents to promptly provide information to help protect lives and property.
