Magarau village, located in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, has been completely abandoned.
The development came after repeated attacks by armed bandits loyal to Notorious bandit kingpin Bello Turji.
The incident was disclosed on Friday in a post on X by Bakatsine, a journalist who reports on conflict and insecurity in Nigeria’s northwest.
Bakatsine wrote that the sustained violence forced the entire community to flee, leaving behind only ruins, silence, and a lingering atmosphere of fear.
He wrote: “Magarau village, located in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, has been completely abandoned following repeated attacks by armed bandits loyal to Bello Turji. The sustained violence has forced the entire community to flee, leaving behind only ruins, silence, and a lingering atmosphere of fear.
“Will this cycle of violence, displacement, and impunity continue to define Nigeria’s security crisis?”
