Bandits carried out a deadly attack in Sabon-Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State last night, leaving three people dead and looting homes in two villages.
The development was contained in a post shared on X by security analyst, Bakatsine on Tuesday.
According to the post, the attackers first stormed Dan Kura village, where they killed two residents and looted valuables from homes.
They later moved to Dankaka village, reportedly in search of a groom said to belong to a local vigilante group.
When the bandits failed to locate him, the post said, they abducted the bride and beheaded her before fleeing the area.
“Last night, bandits carried out fresh attacks in Sabon-Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State. Bandits stormed Dan Kura village, where they killed two residents and looted valuables. They later moved to Dankaka village, allegedly in search of a groom said to be a member of a local vigilante group. When they failed to locate him, the bandits abducted the bride and beheaded her before fleeing the area.
“The attacks have plunged the affected communities into mourning and once again underline the worsening security situation in Sokoto,” Bakatsine wrote.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
