Two suspects, Ghazali Mohammed, 41, and Hassan Taoheed, 45, were arrested by the police in Niger State for allegedly stealing a parcel containing 113.93 grams of gold worth over N22 million.
The incident occurred on January 3, 2026, at Mobil Park in Minna, Niger State.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement, the complainant had arranged to receive the parcel from Ghazali, a driver who was given the package at Nyanya Park in Abuja.
“The parcel was said to contain 113.93 grams of gold worth over twenty-two million naira, which was made known to the driver by the sender of the package. The driver communicated with the designated recipient of the parcel, who agreed to collect the item from him upon his arrival in Minna,” Abiodun disclosed.
However, Abiodun stated that when the complainant arrived at Mobil Park to collect the parcel, Ghazali claimed that someone else had already picked it up, raising suspicions.
The statement revealed: “On reaching the park, the recipient met the driver offloading the vehicle with the second suspect, Hassan, and when asked for the parcel, he alleged that someone else had come to collect the package, which raised suspicion on both the driver and the offloader.”
The PRO further said police are investigating the case and working to recover the stolen gold.
The suspects will be prosecuted once the investigation is complete.
