The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspect linked to an incident of inhumane treatment captured in a viral video circulating on social media.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, said the police became aware of the video showing an adult female being confined and subjected to degrading treatment by unidentified individuals within the state.
According to Abubakar, the arrested suspect is believed to be the host of the gathering where the act occurred, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the principal perpetrators.
“The Command is working diligently to ensure that all those connected to this criminal act are brought to justice. Further updates will be provided as investigations progress,” Abubakar said.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu condemned the incident, describing it as barbaric and urging the fleeing suspects to surrender to the authorities without delay.
He assured members of the public that the police would not relent in pursuing those responsible and would ensure they face lawful prosecution.
