The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed that two persons lost their lives following a late-night armed robbery attack along the Gadar Bala axis of the Doma-Yelwa road.
Security sources disclosed that the incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday when a 911 truck conveying goods and passengers from Rukubi town was ambushed by suspected armed robbers.
According to the sources, the attackers opened fire on the vehicle, killing the driver, Yusuf Dogara, a male resident of Madawaki Ward in Doma, and a female passenger, Nano Gideon, from Akaba Agyaragu in Obi Local Government Area.
It was further gathered that police patrol teams, working alongside local vigilantes and hunters, were promptly deployed to the scene after the attack.
The victims were rushed to the General Hospital in Doma, where medical personnel confirmed them dead on arrival.
Their remains have since been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary, while other passengers who sustained injuries during the attack are currently receiving medical treatment and are said to be responding well.
The police said efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the perpetrators, while urging residents to stay alert and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to security agencies.
