The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, Jigawa Command, has promised to investigate a suspected trafficking case involving four persons handed to it by the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS.
The State Commander, Mr Abdulkadir Turajo, said this on Saturday in Dutse.
Turajo said the command received the four victims on Friday after they were intercepted by the NIS personnel at the Yanmaulu Border Patrol Base in Babura Local Government Area of the state.
He explained that the suspects, aged between 22 and 27, comprised three females and one male, adding that three of them hailed from Imo and one from Edo.
The commander promised that a thorough investigation would be conducted to identify the trafficking syndicate involved and bring them to justice.
“The investigation will also determine whether those intercepted are victims, agents or accomplices,” the commander added.
According to him, the agency will also provide comprehensive counselling to the victims before their eventual reintegration with their respective families.
Turajo appreciated the NIS for its sustained collaboration and partnership in the fight against trafficking in person in the state.
