The Kano State Fire Service has said that it handled three separate fire incidents within three hours on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
According to the service, the incidents occurred between 8:45 pm and 11:17 pm in different parts of the state.
The first fire broke out at AA Ayagi Filling Station along Gwarzo Road in Kanye village, Kabo Local Government Area, at about 8:45 pm.
The service said its control room received a distress call at 20:45 hours, reporting a fire involving a fuel tanker while petrol was being offloaded.
The tanker was completely destroyed, but firefighters from the Rijiyar Zaki division were able to bring the situation under control.
The second incident occurred at Al-Wahida Nigeria Limited Filling Station, Rimin Kebe, Karshen Kwalta, in Nassarawa Local Government Area. Firefighters said a tanker carrying about 45,000 litres of fuel caught fire during offloading.
The blaze destroyed the tanker head, part of its body, 16 tricycles (Adaidaita Sahu), and one Keke NAPEP.
The service noted that “the fire was contained,” preventing further spread and saving part of the fuel and the tanker.
The third fire was reported at Kundila Quarters, near SALSA College, in Tarauni Local Government Area at about 11:17 pm. Firefighters found part of a two-storey residential building engulfed in flames. One room, a toilet, and a corridor on the first floor were affected, while the rest of the building was saved.
The Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, advised filling station operators and fuel tanker drivers to strictly observe safety regulations during fuel offloading.
He stressed the importance of early reporting and urged the public to use the emergency numbers 08107888878 and 07026026400 to help prevent the loss of lives and property.
