The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested no fewer than 20 suspects and recovered 24,000 pieces of illicit drugs in a series of intelligence-driven operations across the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, on Friday in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.
Adam said the achievements were recorded through credible intelligence, routine patrols and timely information from peace-loving residents.
According to the PPRO, on Thursday, at about 8:10pm, operatives acting on reliable information arrested one Tukur Abdulmumin, 33, of Hotoro Quarters, Kano State, at Danladi village in Sule Tankarkar Local Government Area.
Adam disclosed that Abdulmumin was found in possession of 24,000 tablets of Exol, valued at about ₦1.2 million, adding that another suspect, Adamu Babangida, 42, of the same address, was also arrested during preliminary investigations.
He explained that both suspects were intercepted while allegedly conveying the drugs from Kano State on a motorcycle with the intention of disposing of them, noting that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Dutse, for further investigation and prosecution.
In another development, the PPRO stated that on January 12, operatives attached to ‘B’ Division, Hadejia, arrested one Usman Isah, 25, of Musari village, Guri LGA, following a tip-off.
He said the suspect was intercepted with a red Kasea motorcycle suspected to have been stolen, adding that investigations revealed that the motorcycle was stolen on January 9, 2026, in Hadejia town.
Adam further revealed that the suspect was also linked to another motorcycle theft committed on January 4, 2026, while the rightful owner of the recovered motorcycle had been identified in Kasuwar Kuda Quarters, Hadejia.
The police spokesman also said that on January 11, 2026, at about 4:30am, a patrol team from Guri Division intercepted a dark blue Golf 3 Wagon with Imo State registration number, conveying five occupants and two cows suspected to have been stolen.
He listed the suspects as Abdu Dindo, Yakubu Janare, Isah Yahaya, Abdullahi Hassan, and Muhd Dori, all from Jakusko LGA of Yobe State, noting that they were transferred to the SCID, Dutse, for discreet investigation.
Adam also disclosed that on the same January 11, 2026, a resident of Kano State, Mujahid Rashid, reported at Yalwawa Division that he was robbed by a tricycle driver and two passengers after returning from Bauchi State.
He said the victim was dispossessed of two laptops, two cameras, a mobile phone, and clothes, adding that swift police action led to the arrest of a suspect connected to the robbery, while efforts were ongoing to arrest other accomplices and recover the stolen items.
Similarly, the PPRO said operatives of Yalwawa Division recovered a black Hungkee Discovery motorcycle hidden inside an uncompleted building at Mechanic Village, Dutse, following actionable intelligence.
He noted that investigations were ongoing to identify the rightful owner of the motorcycle and arrest those responsible for the theft.
In another coordinated operation, the Jigawa police mouthpiece said operatives from Maigatari, Gagarawa, Shuwarin, and Kafin Hausa divisions arrested seven suspects in connection with the theft of livestock, including cows, horses, donkeys, sheep, and goats.
He listed the suspects as Ibrahim Umar, Abubakar Ibrahim, Muhammad Hassan, Babangida Suleiman, Ado Abubakar, Mustapha Umar, and Mas’ud Lawan, adding that efforts were being intensified to arrest fleeing accomplices and reunite recovered animals with their owners.
The PPRO further stated that on January 10, 2026, operatives from Shuwarin Division arrested two suspects, Muktar Sallau, 22, and Aliyu Muhammad, 27, in connection with criminal conspiracy and theft.
He said the suspects allegedly stole a Huawei handset and ₦50,000 cash, noting that the stolen phone was recovered through the execution of a search warrant and that the case had already been charged to court.
Commending residents for their cooperation, Adam said the command deeply appreciated the support of community members, traditional leaders, and vigilante groups for providing timely and useful information.
He, therefore, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
He said, “Through trust, cooperation, and shared responsibility, the Jigawa State Police Command will continue to ensure the safety and security of lives and property across the state.”
On Monday, the Kano State Police Command announced the arrest of a notorious drug dealer and five suspected thugs at Jaoji Quarters in Kano metropolis.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna, said, “The Kano State Police Command has made another significant breakthrough in its efforts to combat drug trafficking and other related crimes in the state.
“In an operation conducted by police officers attached to Jaoji Police Division Kano, a suspected drug dealer, Hafizu Ali, 25 years old, of Jaoji Quarters Kano, and five suspected thugs were arrested. Various illicit substances and dangerous weapons were recovered.”
