At least two people were killed and several others abducted when bandits attacked the Unguwar Nagunda community in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State on Sunday night.
The attack occurred as a wedding convoy was arriving in the village from Mabai, another community within the same local government area.
The incident was disclosed in a post shared on X on Monday by security analyst Bakatsine, who said several people were injured during the attack, including the bride.
He added that the exact number of those abducted remained unclear, as families were still struggling to account for their loved ones.
“Last night, bandits attacked Unguwar Nagunda in Kankara LGA, Katsina State, just as a wedding convoy was arriving from Mabai, another community in the same local government.
“Residents report heavy gunfire and widespread panic as the bandits struck. At least two people were killed, several others injured, including the bride and an unknown number of wedding guests were abducted. As of this morning, families are still trying to confirm how many people were taken,” Bakatsine wrote.
As at the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from the Katsina State Police Command on the incident.
