The Adamawa State Police Command has announced a one-day shooting range exercise by operatives of its Special Protection Unit at the Counter Terrorism Unit Base along Mubi Road, Girei Local Government Area of the state.
The exercise, according to the xommand, is scheduled to hold on Friday, February 7, 2026, between 8am and 1pm.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the command said the training was part of efforts to enhance operational readiness and professionalism among its personnel.
“The command’s operatives attached to the Special Protection Unit (SPU) will conduct a one-day shooting range exercise/training at the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) Base, along Mubi Road, Girei Local Government Area,” the statement read.
The police cautioned residents and commuters around the area to stay away during the period of the exercise and not to panic at the sound of gunshots.
“The command calls on members of the public, especially those residing around NAS Radio Station, Sangere FUTY, Federal Housing Hayin Gada, among others, to keep off from the area and not to panic at the sound of the shootings until the exercise is over,” Nguroje said.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Dankombo Morris, assured residents that the exercise posed no threat to public safety, stressing that it was strictly a controlled training activity.
