A 19-year-old Nigerian boy identified simply as Samuel Adeniyi, who went viral for selling plastic waste and cartons to raise money to buy his tiling equipment, has received an education scholarship and over N8 million cash gift from Nigerians.
The teenager whose story was told to a content creator, Bayuztv, on Tuesday left many touched and seeking to help him get the necessary help towards acquiring the equipment.
Sharing his story, Samuel, who was seen dropping a sack containing the waste items, said he was introduced to the job by his friend, who is aware of his quest to get the tools.
He said, “I need money to buy my work tool. Tiling work, I learnt it at 17, I couldn’t celebrate my freedom from the job because there was no money. I need a cutting machine, a mallet, and a knife. I make N1,000 to N2,000 from a sack that I bring here.”
The interviewer immediately took him to the place where he had his haircut and took him to a clothing shop to change his dirty clothes, after which they headed to a restaurant.
Piqued by his interest in the tiling job, Bayuztv got him the tiling cutting machine, a new phone and N50,000 to take care of his other needs.
The teenager further took the interviewer to his mother, who prayed for him for helping her son.
On Thursday, the interviewer returned to Samuel and his mother, who confirmed that her husband is not with them and that their story was a very touching one because they have been struggling.
Speaking, she said, “I have been praying to God to help me. In December, I specifically told Him that if He helps me provide for my family, I will praise Him forever. I need like N200,000 to N300,000 to restart my palm oil business that previously crashed.”
The interviewer then presented the woman with N1 million in cash and took her to the mall to pick foodstuffs of her choice that cost about N700,000.
“Your boy has gotten over N8 million in donations and scholarships from secondary school to university level,” Bayuztv announced.
Both Samuel and his mother rolled on the floor in excitement upon hearing the good news while appreciating Nigerians for their support.
