Yivera Co, a global music technology and digital distribution company dedicated to empowering independent artists and rights holders, recently appointed Nigerian-born, United States-based music executive, Wilson Joel to its Board of Directors as a Non-Executive Director,.
The appointment comes as Yivera prepares to launch Yivera 2.0, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening governance, expanding its global presence, and deepening its influence in the international music industry.
A statement shared with Saturday Beats noted, “Joel, popularly known as MusicMagnate, brings over 20 years of international experience in the music and media sectors. He is recognised as a ‘person of extraordinary ability’, a member of the Recording Academy (Grammys), and a senior member of the South African Music Rights Organisation.
“In his new role, Joel is expected to provide strategic direction and independent oversight to Yivera’s management, contribute to board deliberations, ensure compliance with global governance standards, and support the company’s growth through his extensive international network. He will also champion fairness, transparency, and improved compensation for African creators in the global music ecosystem.”
Announcing the appointment, Yivera’s CEO, Martins Okonkwo, described it as a major milestone.
