Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has opened up about his career, personal loss, and past relationships, saying grief shaped his entry into 2026.
Speaking in a recent interview with media personality JayonAir on Tuesday, Egbuson said he changed the image of actors in Nollywood by bringing confidence and a new swagger into the industry.
“There was a certain way actors were back in the day, but then I came and made it look cool. I was a cool guy before Nollywood. I brought confidence and jealousy. Whether they admit it or not, everybody is using my playbook,” he said.
The actor said 2025 was a fantastic year, and he was optimistic about 2026 until tragedy struck.
“On the 1st of January, I found out that I lost my dad. I really had to deal with this type of grief,” he said, describing it as his first experience losing a close family member.
Egbuson added that the loss was more painful because he and his father did not share the best relationship.
“That was one thing I wanted to work on in 2026. I prioritised work so much that I should have been more available,” he said.
He also spoke about regrets in his love life, admitting a past relationship still weighs on him.
“She’s married now. I don’t know if you have more than one soulmate, but I’m convinced that she was my soulmate. All she wanted was for me to be present,” he said.
According to him, the experience taught him that money is not everything.
“Money is just one out of many things that matter,” he said.
When asked if he still thinks about having his own family, he replied, “All the time,” adding that he would not repeat past mistakes.
“She’ll be priority. She is. She’ll be priority,” he said.
PUNCH Online reports that the actor announced his father’s death on Instagram, sharing photos of his late dad.
