Just because the Kardashian-Jenners opted out of doing their usual star-studded Christmas festivities doesn’t mean they didn’t celebrate as a family.
“We are not doing a big Christmas Eve party this year because we just had my mom’s huge 70th and we just wanted something more intimate,” Khloé Kardashian shared in a Wednesday, December 24, Instagram video. “So we are doing just family.”
Khloé, 41, noted that the famous family were still going all out. “But of course we have to still be so dressed up because that is what we love to do,” she added while showing off her outfit, which featured accessories that were “on loan” from jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz. “We are celebrating the holiday very glam and fab.”
One month before their Christmas gathering, Kris Jenner rang in her milestone birthday with a party that featured appearances from Beyonce, Jay-Z, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and more. The gathering was held at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s home, which was all decked out with James Bond-themed decor including poker and roulette tables.
Before reuniting for the holidays, Kris and Khloé shared new details about the practicalities of their Christmas parties.
“So for people who don’t know, every year we do a traditional Christmas Eve party that we’ve done since before I’ve been born, my mom has been hosting them, since the ‘70s,” Khloé said during an episode of her “Khloé in Wonderland” podcast. “And my mom has always hosted them, and then once her kids got older, she sort of handed the baton off when you felt comfortable that we would represent you properly, and we’ve all done a good job. It used to rotate siblings’ homes on who was going to host it.”
Kris pointed out that the party is “a really big undertaking.”
“I think that it really takes a lot of energy, time, resources, money, creativity, just all of it,” she explained. “And we used to do — before there was all of the social media platforms and much easier to do digital photos, we’d have a whole photoshoot with the whole family and we’d wear our Christmas outfits and do these beautiful photoshoots and they would get bigger and bigger and bigger the more kids everybody had. And those made me so happy.”
