Afropop singer, Mayowa Olusanya, popularly known as Ichaba, has announced his return to the music scene in 2026, ending a period of relative quiet in his career.
The singer revealed plans to release new music steadily throughout the year, beginning with a new single scheduled for February 13, 2026. The announcement signals Ichaba’s intention to reclaim his place in the Nigerian music space after taking time to refine his sound and direction.
Known for his soulful vocals and energetic delivery, the former Davido Music Worldwide affiliate and Lavish Sound Entertainment frontman has been working behind the scenes since the release of his 2024 EP, ‘Late Entry’.
According to him, the upcoming phase of his career represents a more evolved and mature version of his artistry.
“I’ve spent the last few months reconnecting with my roots and experimenting with new sounds. 2026 is for the fans who have been patient with me. We are coming with back-to-back hits, and I’m starting the year with something very special,” the singer said.
Ichaba disclosed that his first single of the year, ‘Ere Gele’, has been described as a potential chart-topper. Its February 13 release date, just a day before Valentine’s Day, has fuelled speculation among fans that the song may explore romantic themes, a style he is well known for.
The singer rose to prominence with hit songs such as ‘Jisoro’ and ‘Man Must Chop’ featuring Davido, earning a reputation for catchy hooks and relatable storytelling. He further cemented his status with love-themed records like ‘Aduke’, which enjoyed widespread popularity.
