The Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe, on Tuesday approved the dismissal of four senior officers of the institution over alleged gross misconduct.
Those affected are the Registrar, Alhaji Umar Bello; the College Librarian, Yusuf Aliyu; the Director of Works and Services, Muhammad Malam; and Ibrahim Shehu, an internal member of the Governing Council representing the Non-Teaching Staff Congregation.
The decision was reached at the council’s 7th meeting held on January 31, 2026, at the headquarters of the National Commission for Colleges of Education in Abuja.
According to a press statement signed by the Acting Director, Public Relations and Protocol, Dahiru Gurama on Tuesday, the dismissals followed earlier suspensions and were based on the findings of investigative panels.
“The dismissals followed earlier suspensions and were based on the findings and recommendations of a fact-finding committee set up by the Federal Ministry of Education, as well as the Governing Council’s Investigative Committee, which indicted the officers on various counts of gross misconduct,” the statement read.
The council said the action was taken in line with its commitment to accountability and due process in the administration of the college.
Meanwhile, the council approved the appointment of Mallam Haruna N. Ayuba, the most senior Deputy Registrar, as Acting Registrar to ensure continuity in the administration of the institution.
The College Provost, Professor Ali Adamu, reaffirmed the management’s commitment to upholding transparency, discipline and institutional integrity in line with federal regulations governing tertiary institutions.
