The Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, has approved the College of Education and Entrepreneurship Studies, Lessel, Benue State, to run degree programmes in education-related disciplines.
This was contained in a statement made available on Monday by the Provost of the college, Dr Austin Ortiv.
Ortiv said that, under a Memorandum of Understanding signed by representatives of both institutions last Thursday, the college would run the programmes under the supervision of AAUA.
According to him, following the development, the college would begin to train and graduate professional educators equipped with both academic pedagogy and entrepreneurial skills.
He said, “We now have the approval and capacity to run several programmes, including degree programmes in education, certificate programmes in entrepreneurship and advanced certificate programmes in education.
“With the agreement with Adekunle Ajasin University, our degree students are assured of graduating from one of the foremost universities in Nigeria. Their admission, curriculum, screening, examinations and certificates will be handled by the university.
“In fact, their matriculation and convocation ceremonies will be conducted by the university. Furthermore, our students will not only obtain academic certificates but will also be trained and certified in entrepreneurship, with hands-on training in business, technology and engineering, trade and craft, among others.”
The PUNCH earlier reported that the Vice-Chancellor of AAUA, Prof Olugbenga Ige, disclosed that no fewer than 32 students of the institution graduated with first-class honours out of 5,799 who completed their undergraduate programmes in the 2025/2026 academic session.
The Vice-Chancellor announced that the 32 first-class graduates would be offered automatic employment as graduate assistants.
He noted that the institution had a policy of retaining its best graduates, provided they were willing to work with the university after completing their National Youth Service Corps.
