The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday denied bail to Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance, Yakubu Adamu, and four co‑defendants facing terrorism financing charges. The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Mr Adamu and his co‑defendants on 31 December 2025 on 10 counts involving terrorism financing and sundring money laundering offences. At least nine Nigerian soldiers have been confirmed dead following an explosion caused by improvised explosive devices, IEDs, along the Gubio axis of Borno State, according to security sources. A senior military source, who spoke on condition of anonymity on Monday, said preliminary investigations indicated that the explosive devices were planted by Boko Haram insurgents.
