Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are back in Practical Magic 2 — but they still remember the muted reaction to the original back in 1998. “We thought, ‘This is going to be such an amazing film. People are going to love it.’ And then it got quiet. It got quiet,” Bullock, 62, shared with Variety at the Practical Magic 2 Los Angeles premiere on Monday, August 31. The Oscar winner added, “[They] were like, ‘How many women in a film do you need? How many tones do you need? What kind of film is this?’” While Practical Magic has become…
A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by former Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Kabiru Turaki, has endorsed a proposal by some opposition politicians in the country to field a single presidential candidate for the 2027 election. The faction, in a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said presenting a single candidate against President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is necessary to defeat the ruling party in the forthcoming election. A group of opposition leaders, which identified itself as G-100, converged on Abuja on Monday to discuss strategies…
The federal government has begun the nationwide distribution of Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances and tricycle ambulances to strengthen emergency medical response and improve access to timely healthcare, particularly in rural and underserved communities. Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held at the National Trauma Centre, Riyom, Plateau State on Monday, Daju Kachollom, permanent secretary, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, said the intervention was designed to address last-mile challenges in emergency transportation, particularly in hard-to-reach communities where delays in accessing healthcare could determine whether lives are saved. According to her, the ambulances would support emergency response for maternal and…
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has dismissed as fake a purported letter from world football governing body FIFA warning Nigeria against government interference in the federation’s affairs. The document, dated 1 September, and purportedly signed by FIFA Secretary-General Mattias Grafström, claimed FIFA had raised concerns over the resignation of former NFF President Ibrahim Gusau and threatened possible sanctions, including Nigeria’s suspension from FIFA and CAF competitions. The NFF, however, said the letter was entirely fabricated. “The NFF has debunked news of a ‘letter’ circulating in sections of the media as being from world-football governing body, FIFA. It is totally fake,”…
The Kwara State House of Assembly has declared the seats of two of its members, Saaba Issa Gideon and Olusola Odetundun, vacant following their defection from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party. The lawmakers represent Edu and Irepodun State constituencies, respectively. The decision was taken during plenary on Tuesday after the state APC Chairman, Sunday Fagbemi, wrote the Assembly, asking it to invoke Section 109(1)(g) of the 1999 Constitution against the defecting lawmakers. Fagbemi, in the letter addressed to the Speaker, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, argued that Gideon and Odetundun were elected on the APC platform and could not…

Sentiment in crypto has dived lower than a snailfish in the Mariana Trench in recent months. Miners are capitulating to AI, cold wallets are getting exploited, and you can hardly fire up LinkedIn without reading another message from a newly unemployed crypto journalist searching for new opportunities. Even for an industry that’s endured nation-state bans, exchange blowups, and years of regulatory pressure, morale has rarely felt this low. With business models failing and public interest dropping, many long term crypto fans have begun to question whether we’ve all wasted a decade of our lives on a pipe dream.Source: Ash CryptoUntil…
