On Christmas night 2025, the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) launched missile strikes in Sokoto State, northwest Nigeria, targeting what it described as Islamic State terrorists. Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Thursday, inducted 3,933 newly recruited primary healthcare workers. Mr Makinde, during the induction held in Ibadan, said that health workers were the heart of the state’s healthcare delivery system.He said that primary health workers were closer to the people at the grassroots. According to the governor, the recruitment is to address critical human resource gaps and strengthen multidisciplinary teamwork at the grassroots level. The Ondo State Police Command on Thursday said that it had arrested four persons over the abduction of a woman in the Ilu-Abo community in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.
